Mazes with Eagulls & The Static Jacks at 100 Club

January, 2012

Described as ‘gloriously lo-fi indie cool’ by the NME

Mazes reference a range of 80′s and 90′s bands such as Guided by Voices and Eric’s Trip when describing their lo-fi aesthetic and sound but when they graced the 100 Club stage on November 28th, in a glorious melodic shoe-gaze-esque haze we heard moments of Pavement, The Lemonheads, Fountains of Wayne, and Weezer. The references in no doubt relevant yet cleverly woven in the bands carefully crafted sound to create something new and all the more interesting.  Having spent the last couple of years honing their craft on the road with the likes of Deerhunter and Thee Oh Sees, Mazes have become accomplished live performers, and as they took us through tracks from their album ‘A Thousand Heys’ we were all left wanting to see a whole lot more.
