On Tuesday 15th May, Kindness brought the sound of sunshine disco to the 100 Club to perform tracks from their enigmatic, critically acclaimed album ‘World, You Need A Change of MInd’. As lead figure and Kindness master mind, producer Adam Bainbridge, swooped onto the stage, with his infamous long locks tumbling over his crisp white shirt, the crowds took leave from the bar and pushed their way through the throng ready for the night to really begin.
As the bass line and 80s synth kicked in bringing their unique sassy and brassy sound to life, the club was transformed into a mini fiesta for the hipsters who migrated from East London for the evening to see this unique funk fusion brought to life. Lead tracks ‘That’s Alright’ and ‘Cyan’ proved to be two of the highlights in an incredibly strong set that took the audience on a journey through their unique take on 70s and 80s disco into the realms of psychedelia and slap back to current day. Supported on stage by an remarkable line up of accomplished musicians and two quite incredible backing vocalists, there was no faulting the performance or the atmosphere their illustrious sound created. Kindness, indeed.
Prior to the main event, Moshi Moshi Records new signing, Becoming Real, took to centre stage to deliver his high octane warm up set of grime flavoured and dark haunting dubstep whilst his label mate DJs kept the crowds suitably riled from start to finish – and all this on a Tuesday night! Another Converse Gigs triumph as we move into the series years anniversary… and we have something special in store. Keep checking back for details!
